User Guide: IP Phone Configuration
This guide provides step-by-step instructions to set up your IP phone. Following these steps ensures your phone is ready for secure communication.
Step 1: Retrieve the Extension Number
ā Locate the extension number assigned to the user. This unique number identifies the user on the phone system.
ā The extension number will be displayed on your IP phone as the user’s identifier once configuration is complete.
Step 2: Set the Display Name
ā Enter the name of the user as the display name. This ensures the name is visible on the phone’s screen during calls and interactions.
ā Example: If the user’s name is Terrence Haze, input “Terrence Haze” in the display name field.
Step 3: Configure the Authentication User
ā Use the extension number as the authentication user. This step ensures the device can verify the identity of the user on the system.
ā Example: If the extension number is 1234, enter “1234” in the authentication user field.
Step 4: Obtain the Authentication Password
ā Retrieve the authentication password associated with the extension number. This password is required to securely log the device into the phone system.
ā You can find the authentication password in the extension’s settings. Contact your system administrator if you need assistance locating it.
Step 5: Enter the Server Address
ā Input the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) of your system’s instance as the server address. The FQDN serves as the address your phone uses to connect to the system.
ā Example: If your instance name is “company.ringq.com,” enter this as the server address.
Step 6: Set the Transport Protocol
Select TCP as the transport protocol. This ensures reliable communication between the phone and the system.
Your IP phone is now ready for use. If you encounter any issues during the setup process, consult your system administrator or refer to the system’s support documentation for assistance.
